Four-star quarterback Justyn Martin of Inglewood, Calif., is about to join the long list of blue-chip quarterbacks that have already committed.

Martin will announce his decision at 5 p.m. ET Thursday on CBS Sports HQ between Michigan, Ole Miss and UCLA. His announcement will come at a ceremony at his high school.

Martin is ranked by On3 as the No. 132 player in the country, the ninth-ranked quarterback and the No. 7 overall player in California. Martin is ranked as the No. 13 overall quarterback according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The On3 Consensus also ranks him as the 17th best player in California.

Intel indicates UCLA has been the leader in the recruitment of Justyn Martin ever since the Bruins extended an offer earlier this summer.

The Bruins’ offer was a big reason why Martin backed off an earlier commitment to Cal.

Ole Miss hosted Martin earlier this season on an official visit, and he said he really liked his time in Oxford. Michigan has been somewhat involved since his decommitment, but he never visited.

The four-star signal-caller took an official visit to UCLA this past weekend – just days before his announcement. The Bruins do not have a 2022 quarterback locked up and have zeroed in on Martin as their top target.

My prediction is UCLA with a confidence level of 90%.

Justyn Martin would be big for Bruins

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said UCLA landing Justyn Martin would be a significant addition for coach Chip Kelly.

“Justyn Martin would be the most physically talented quarterback that Chip Kelly has signed at UCLA,” Power said. “He’s continued to progress over the past year and is playing well as a senior.

“Martin is a big quarterback who pairs a strong arm with above-average mobility. He can drive the ball down the field and make some second-reaction plays with his feet. Martin has longer arms which can lead to a longer throwing motion but has worked to quicken things up. Landing a talented passer from their back yard is certainly a nice development for the Bruins.”
