The initial injury report for a matchup between Oklahoma and LSU to close out the regular season has been released Wednesday. There are a number of key injuries to watch on both sides as the Sooners hope to win and secure their spot in the College Football Playoff.

One such name is OU defensive lineman R Mason Thomas. Thomas has not played since suffering a quad injury on Nov. 1 against Tennessee, missing the Sooners’ past two games. He is officially listed as doubtful against the Tigers, and you can view the full injury report below.

No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners (9-2, 5-2 SEC)

LSU Tigers (7-4, 3-4)

Despite missing the past two games, Thomas still leads OU with 6.5 sacks this season. That is in addition to 23 total tackles (9.5 for loss) and two forced fumbles.

Thomas suffered the injury while making a scoop-and-score play after recovering a fumble and returning it for a touchdown. He is a vital part of the defense and his health will be paramount as the Sooners make a push toward the postseason.

Thomas is not the only defensive player that OU has been without lately. The Sooners have also been missing defensive back Gentry Williams since Oct. 18. Despite this, they’ve ranked as one of the top teams in the SEC in both points and yards allowed per game.

Since this is an SEC matchup, LSU and Oklahoma will both release availability reports throughout the week. In addition to Wednesday’s injury report, there will also be reports released on Thursday and Friday, then one final report that comes out 90 minutes before kickoff. All availability reports can be found on the SEC’s website.

This is only the fifth time in history that OU and LSU have met in football. The Tigers got the better of the Sooners by a score of 37-17 in last season’s meeting, which was also Oklahoma’s first year in the SEC. LSU also owns a 3-1 lead in the series overall, with OU’s only win coming in the 1950 Sugar Bowl.

All that in mind along with the College Football Playoff implications for the Sooners, the injury report will be worth monitoring throughout the week. Kickoff between Oklahoma and LSU is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday in Norman.
