Injuries have not been kind to the Green Bay Packers this season. The latest blow was to one of their best defensive players, linebacker Rashan Gary.

After leaving the Packers’ contest against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, it was revealed that Gary had hyperextended his elbow. He went down in the fourth quarter attempting to tackle Seahawks running back Travis Homer.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the belief is the linebacker will put on a brace in an attempt to play on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Even so, Gary is scheduled to have an MRI on his elbow on Tuesday to determine if anything changes. In a separate report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, he said there is no break or ligament damage to the elbow. “Some early optimism for an emerging player.”

Gary has broken out as one of Green Bay’s top players, leading the defense to an 8-2 record. After recording a sack before his injury, the pass rusher’s total is up to 5.5 on the season, leading the team. He also has 31 tackles on the season, two of which have been for a loss.

Rashan Gary not only Packer to suffer injury vs Seattle

Another brutal injury occurred for Green Bay on Sunday against Seattle in running back Aaron Jones. He went down just before Gary did with an apparent knee injury.

The initial fear was the Jones suffered an injury to his MCL as reported by Schefter. He provided an update on the running back’s status on Monday morning, saying it was a “mild” MCL tear. Jones should avoid being placed on injured reserve, which would cause him to miss at least three games. Instead, the timeline is looking more like a week or two.

Green Bay’s next two matchups are against the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Rams. The latter could have a major impact on who gets the NFC’s No. 1 seed and a bye.

Jones ran for 25 yards on seven carries against the Seahawks before leaving with the injury. On the season, he has rushed for 541 yards and three touchdowns. Second-year player AJ Dillon was the replacement on Sunday and should get a majority of the carries until Jones is healthy enough to play again.
