The Arizona Wildcats already had a number of their biggest superstars decide to stay in Tuscon with their new head coach, Brent Brennan. Many fans were worried about a mass exodus of players to the transfer portal after Jedd Fisch departed for Washington, but stars like Tetairoa McMillan and Noah Fifita decided to stick with the Wildcats.

On Saturday evening, running back Rayshon Luke also joined them, announcing he’s staying with Arizona.

In the past two years, Luke has rushed for over 200 total yards and a touchdown for the Wildcats. Arizona fans will hope he has a breakout season in the 2024 campaign ahead.

Saturday turned out to be quite a big day for the Wildcats. Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita and wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan also announced they would be coming back for the 2024 season, opting to not enter the NCAA transfer portal.

The offensive duo made the announcement during the first-half under-16 timeout at the Arizona-UCLA basketball game. A video played on the jumbotron before some Arizona football players gathered at center court. Everyone in the crowd went crazy, knowing how important Fifita and McMillan will be moving forward.

Arizona posted the short video on social media shortly after, with Fifita saying there is “unfinished business” and McMillan made it official with a “we’re running it back.”

With Brent Brennan coming to the desert from San Jose State, another rebuild could have taken place with players deciding to leave. Getting Fifita, Luke, and McMillan back for at least one season is huge for the program, hoping to now keep the momentum rolling in a positive direction — especially while transitioning from the Pac-12 to the Big 12.

Rayshon Luke was a highly touted high school prospect

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star running back Rayshon Luke had a weekend to remember in San Antonio, Texas.

Not only did Luke play and shine in the All-American Bowl, but he also won MVP of the game and committed to play his college football at Arizona.

Luke is the No. 275 overall recruit in the country, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. A dynamic track and field athlete, he also was clocked as a personal record of 10.55 at the CIF State Track and Field Championships in May of 2019. On the gridiron, Luke finished his high school career with 2,010 yards and 24 total touchdowns on 201 carries. He also finished his senior season with 944 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on 76 carries. Luke averaged 12.4 yards per carry during his final season with St. John Bosco, one of the nation’s powerhouse football programs.
