Report: QB Davi Belfort reclassifies to 2024 class

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Gulliver Prep quarterback Davi Belfort will begin college football a year earlier. According to a report from Greg Biggins, the 5-foot-9.5, 185 pound signal-caller has reclassified into the class of 2024.

“I’ve been taking online courses to catch up and get ahead,” Belfort told Biggins regarding the decision. “This is something me and my family have been praying about it and we really feel this is the best thing for me and my future. It’s going to allow me get to college sooner and we’ve always felt, if you want something, be aggressive and go get it. 

“It’s a big move for sure but like I said, in my family, we’e always been about going after what you want, pushing yourself and not sitting back and being satisfied. If you want something, go after it. This is going to push me but like I said, I’m always ready to compete.”

Belfort, the son of former UFC mixed martial artist Vitor Belfort, has received 28 offers from some of the top programs in the country including Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Michigan and Texas A&M. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Crimson Tide are in the lead for his commitment at 22.8%. Miami is the only other team with double digits at 10.5%.

He told Biggins he is talking to Alabama, Florida, Michigan State, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and UCF the most. Belfort has already taken 14 unofficial visits, including multiple trips to Alabama and Notre Dame, according to the On3 Visit Center.

The quarterback is preparing for his junior season at Miami Gulliver Prep, his third high school in as many years. He played his freshman year at West Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinal Newman before transferring to Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard. Belfort then transferred to Gulliver Prep following his sophomore season at Dillard.
