Iowa continues to make Kansas City one of its prime recruiting territories. That’s why it was no surprise to see the Hawkeyes extend an offer on Sunday to fast-rising 2023 athlete Ricky Ahumaraeze.

Ahumaraeze, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound athlete from Liberty (Mo.) High, shared news of the offer from Iowa on his social media Sunday morning.

The offer from the Hawkeyes is his third major offer since the start of his junior season. He had earlier picked up offers from Kansas and K-State. The Wildcats were first to offer on Oct. 16, while the Jayhawks jumped in with an offer on Oct. 28.

The offer from Iowa comes after he was in Iowa City to watch the Hawkeyes’ 33-23 victory over Illinois.

“I was on the phone with Coach Copeland this morning and he was talking about how happy he was to see me at the game,” Ahumaraeze told HawkeyeReport. “Then, a few minutes into the call, he told me that they offered me and how he wants to see me continuing to grow as a person and a football player.”

“The visit was amazing. My mom and little had a great time. The atmosphere was awesome and the fans and everything.”

In his junior season, Ricky Ahumaraeze stared on both sides of the ball for the Blue Jays. He was the team’s second-leading receiver with 556 yards and five touchdowns in 11 games. He was third on the team with 68 tackles. Plus, he had three interceptions.

Ricky Ahumaraeze part of elite 2023 class in KC

Ricky Ahumaraeze is somewhat overshadowed by coveted receiver junior receiver Jaidyn Doss at Raymore-Peculiar. But his stock is on the rise. He has all the tools to be a double-digit offer type of prospect.

Ahumaraeze is among a top group of junior prospects in the Kansas City metro area. According to the On3 Consensus, OT Cayden Green of Lee’s Summit North, EDGE Chandavian Bradley of Platte County, EDGE Adepoju Adebawore of North Kansas City and TE Jaden Hamm of Eudora are all ranked as four-star prospects in the 2023 class.

Hamm is already committed to Arkansas. On3 ranks Bradley and Adebawore as top 50 prospects overall in the country.
