Gainesville (Fla.) The Rock School four-star power forward Ryan Jones is down to eight schools, he tells On3. Moving forward, the 6-foot-8, 215-pound rising senior will consider Florida, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, and Xavier.

Jones has not yet taken any official visits, however, he’s visited Florida unofficially a few times. He’s scheduled six upcoming official visits — Virginia Tech on September 2, Florida on September 15, LSU on September 22, Xavier on September 29, Missouri on October 6, and Miami on October 20.

Jones breaks down finalists

Florida: “What I like about Florida is the family feeling! Ever since the old coach left and the new coaching staff arrived and I came on campus, every time I visited I became comfortable every time. Just the way they bring me in like I was apart of the team really impacted my view on the them! Plus, they are down to earth people and they want what’s best for you and won’t really sugar coat things. I love how they run most of everything through there skilled forwards that can mostly do anything on the court!”

Louisville: “Louisville has been recruiting me for a bit now and the first phone call I got from Coach Payne really inspired me and motivated me with his story with Anthony Davis! Just how he pushed him to become one of the best intrigued me so I am also looking forward to see what more they would have to offer as well!”

LSU: “I have been in contact with their coaching staff for a good minute now and I love the personality and what they stand for! We have built a really great relationship over past year! They love using their forwards a lot, like Darius Days who went there. We have almost the same attributes so I love what they did with him while he was there to prepare him for the league!”

Miami: “They are pretty new on the scene but they love my character and my versatility, and work ethic! And the way I play really fits there system!”

Missouri: “The coaching staff has been watching me for a while when they were at FSU and then now at Missouri. They love what I stand for and how tough I am and plus when I’m on the court I’m a winner!”

Oklahoma State: “Oklahoma State has been pretty recent in my recruiting! Just looking at what they have brought out of their program with SF/PF really intrigued me and the coach seemed really down to earth and I would love to see more of what they have to offer!”

Virginia Tech: “What I like about Virginia Tech is the way they use the forwards and how versatile the forwards are. Plus they are a great shooting team, which is my best attribute. My relationship with coach Young has definitely grown over the past couple of weeks and I have great relationship with Coach Giltner as well!”

Xavier: “They love my character and what I stand for, and my versatility and how I can shoot and work with the ball on the perimeter and plus be in the post and banging.”
