No. 4 Alabama (7-1, 5-0) and LSU (5-3, 2-3) will clash Saturday night in Tuscaloosa in the first game since LSU parted ways with head coach Brian Kelly following the Tigers’ 5-3 start to the season.

These programs are going in much different directions this season, as the Tide have won seven consecutive games and look to be en route to their first College Football Playoff appearance under Kalen DeBoer. LSU meanwhile is riding out the season en route to hiring a new head coach.

Saturday’s meeting will mark the 90th meeting between the two historic programs. Alabama leads the all-time series 57-27-5 and has won 12 of the past 14 meetings. The Tide rolled LSU 42-13 last season thanks to 185 rushing yards and four rushing scores from quarterback Jalen Milroe.

Ahead of this weekend’s meeting however, both teams are dealing with injuries as they head towards the conclusion of the regular season. The status of some key players has been revealed on Wednesday night’s SEC availability report.

No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide (7-1, 5-0)

LSU Tigers (5-3, 2-3)

Since dropping its season opener to Florida State, Alabama has been one of the best teams in the country. The Crimson Tide have rattled off seven consecutive wins, including four against ranked conference opponents (No. 5 Georgia, No. 16 Vanderbilt, No. 14 Missouri and No. 11 Tennessee). They are coming off a bye-week after a close call on the road against South Carolina, in which they took the deciding 29-22 lead with 34 seconds remaining.

Unlike Alabama, LSU opened the season strong with a 17-10 win over No. 4 Clemson in its season opener. Since then however, things haven’t gone great for the Tigers. They opened the season with a 4-0 record, but have dropped three of their last four games (all to ranked conference opponents). This resulted in the program parting ways with Kelly, who led the program to a 34-14 (19-10) record over four seasons.

A win on Saturday would result in Alabama‘s eight consecutive victory, while an LSU win would clinch bowl eligibility for the Tigers.

Kick-off between No. 4 Alabama and LSU is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET. The game can be seen on ABC.
