Rylan Griffen, 2022 4-star, cuts list to 10

Rylan Griffen, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard out of Richardson (Texas) Richardson tells On3 he is down to ten schools – Alabama, Auburn, Arizona State, NC State, Kansas State, Kansas, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and California.
Griffen officially visited Oklahoma State and Kansas State in June. He has also scheduled two more officials – Georgia on Sept. 17 and Kansas on Oct. 1.
Rylan Griffen also holds offers from Baylor, Arkansas, Creighton, Texas, Oklahoma, Wake Forest, Iowa State, Mississippi State, among others.
Griffen discussed his official visits to Oklahoma State and Kansas State in a previous interview.
Development at Oklahoma State
“The visit went good,” Griffen said. “Cade Cunningham went up there, but that’s not really what they were talking about. And that was interesting… that they didn’t talk much about Cade. They talked about how much better people get when they go there. Coach (Mike) Boynton just wants you to get better. I watched them practice, and they practice hard. On defense, they talk and communicate. It’s fun to see colleges compared to high school because it’s so different.”

Family ties at Kansas State
Griffen’s cousin, Thomas Gipson, played for the Wildcats several years ago, and Gipson’s best friend, Shane Southwell, is an assistant coach for the program.
“I really like Coach Webber,” Griffen said. “Down there it felt like family. They weren’t great last year but they started to get it together toward the end of the season. They only lost to Baylor by like five and they think they can be better this year… added a couple of transfers, too. I watched them practice while I was on my visit, and I could tell they all like each other.”
Griffen doesn’t have an exact timeline for a college commitment, but he says he would like to make a decision before the early signing period in November.
