Coming off a tough loss to Ole Miss on the road, Arkansas coach Sam Pittman isn’t beating himself or the team up. In fact, quite the opposite.

The sixth-year head coach sees opportunity ahead. And he likes the guys he’s going to get to attack those opportunities with.

“Right now, I feel like the disappointment of losing can’t take away that I think we’ve got a really good team and we can play with anybody that we play,” Pittman told reporters. “Our opponents are very good. So you have to play well.

“But I feel really good about the football team. We’ve got some things to correct, but I do think this is one of the better teams that I’ve had even though we lost on the road the other night. I still think this is one of the better teams that I’ve had since I’ve been here.”

Arkansas has gotten outstanding play from quarterback Taylen Green, who’s keying a very dangerous offense. Green has already thrown for 866 yards and 11 touchdowns — against just two interceptions — in three games worth of action. He also leads the team with 307 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.

As Arkansas showed against Ole Miss, it can give you a serious game. Turning them into wins will be the trick for Pittman and company, as the head coach looks to keep the noise on the outside to a minimum.

Arkansas provides Kani Walker update

Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman provided an update on Kani Walker after he was hospitalized following a collision with a teammate Saturday. The defensive back appeared to hit his head and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher.

“Kani is good, thanks for the question,” Pittman said. “Kani came back with the team. He’s good, I don’t know whether he’ll be able to play or not right now, honestly. He’s been assessed, obviously, by the doctors and by Vance, but we’re just happy that he’s healthy, and going to be able to recover from all that. But I don’t know how fast.”

The ESPN broadcast later reported that Walker had been taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. Sideline reporter Taylor McGregor added that the defensive back was confirmed to have movement in all of his extremities.

The injury occurred with 14:51 remaining in the fourth quarter after Walker appeared to hit his head on a Razorbacks teammate. He remained on the field for several moments as medical staff tended to him and carfully loaded him on the stretcher before taking him away.

Players from both sides gathered around to send him off as the crowd in Oxford also sent their well wishes to him through claps and cheers. The DB gave a thumbs up to the crowd as he was carted off.

On3’s Nick Kosko also contributed to this report.
