On Saturday, Texas A&M (4-0, 1-0) and Mississippi State (4-1, 0-1) will go head-to-head at 6:30 p.m. CT inside Kyle Field. Mississippi State suffered its first loss of the season last week, falling 41-34 to Tennessee in overtime.

It was a stellar showing for the Bulldogs, who didn’t win a single game in conference play last season. In the loss, Mississippi State’s defense picked off Volunteers quarterback Joey Aguilar twice and recovered one fumble.

Mississippi State running back Fluff Bothwell was a thorn in Tennessee’s side, racking up a game-high 134 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Bothwell will look to put on another standout performance this weekend.

Of course, the Aggies won’t make it easy. While Texas A&M’s offense shined in its first three wins of the season, the Aggies’ defense proved its worth in Week 5. In Texas A&M’s 16-10 win over Auburn, the Aggies only allowed 177 total yards.

Just 52 of Auburn’s total came from the ground game. Now, Texas A&M’s defense will look to shutdown Mississippi State’s offense as well.

Unfortunately, neither team will be at full-strength for the showdown. Look below to see the latest availability report for each team.

Texas A&M has won its last two meetings with Mississippi State. Last season, the Aggies secured a 34-24 victory over the Bulldogs. Alas, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko isn’t overlooking the matchup this season.

“They’re an extremely talented team,” Elko said of Mississippi State. “Jeff [Lebby] is a phenomenal offensive coach. I think they do a really, really good job testing you. They’ll stretch you sideline to sideline. They stretch you horizontally, they stretch you vertically. They run a spread offense, but they’re really physical in how they run the football.

“That’s the thing that not a lot of people talk about with that offense, is how committed they are and how much they want to run the football well. And they do that really well… They’re an extremely energetic group, which means they’ve got a lot of confidence in the program and what they’re doing. I’m sure they’re going to come in here and play their absolute best football Saturday night.”

The two teams will clash on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will air live the SEC Network.
