The SEC has released a statement regarding the antisemitic message that was projected outside TIAA Bank Stadium in Jacksonville during Georgia’s 42-20 victory over Florida Saturday. The comments come in the wake of rapper Kanye West’s antisemitic messages on social media.

“The Southeastern Conference joins the University of Georgia and the University of Florida in condemning the antisemitic hate speech projected outside TIAA Bank Field and other antisemitic hate speech in Jacksonville on Saturday,” the statement read. “The SEC denounces all forms of hatred and intolerance. We take pride in the diversity of our campus communities and join the Universities of Georgia and Florida as we stand together against hate.”

Florida and Georgia have since came together to release a joint statement on the matter.

“We strongly condemn the anti-Semitic hate speech projected outside TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville after the Florida-Georgia football game Saturday night and the other anti-Semitic messages that have appeared in Jacksonville,” the statement read. “The University of Florida and the University of Georgia together denounce these and all acts of anti-Semitism and other forms of hatred and intolerance. We are proud to be home to strong and thriving Jewish communities at UGA and UF, and we stand together against hate.”

Messages like this have appeared around Jacksonville in the wake of West’s comments. Since then, he’s been dropped by BalenciagaAdidas, Gap, Vogue magazine and CAA (Creative Artists Agency) all cut ties with the rapper.

Kirby Smart dedicates Georgia’s win to the late Vince Dooley

No. 1 Georgia survived a third-quarter rally from rival Florida, then punched back to dust its rival 42-20 in the annual showdown in Jacksonville, Fla. Following legendary coach Vince Dooley’s death on Friday, this one meant a little more.

On the field after the game, coach Kirby Smart made a special dedication.

“This win goes to coach Dooley, and he would have been so proud of our first half,” Smart told CBS sideline reporter Jenny Dell. “He might not have been proud of our second half. But coach Dooley has meant so much to this university and his family has meant so much to us and all the people in Athens. This win is for him.”

Georgia raced out to an early 28-3 lead before Florida really showed signs of life.

The Bulldogs were absolutely dominant defensively early on, forcing five three-and-outs from the Gators on seven full first-half drives. The first four drives of the game for Florida resulted in three-and-outs.

After a bit of a swing in the third quarter, Georgia settled back in and took the air out of the game with a nearly nine-minute drive in the fourth quarter. Vince Dooley would have been proud indeed.
