Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore is sure glad to have Justice Haynes in the Alabama backfield. Haynes topped 100 yards once again as the No. 20 Wolverines (4-1) beat Wisconsin (2-3) 24-10 Saturday.

Haynes spent the previous two seasons at Alabama, but transferred in the offseason. He’s been the offensive MVP through the first half of the season in Ann Arbor and could start getting some Heisman love.

Moore was asked by FOX’s Jenny Taft about Haynes’ performance and he couldn’t help but smile. The head coach was still amazed he’s not in an Alabama uniform.

“I feel sorry for the team that let him go, but I’m glad he’s here,” Moore said. “Another 100 yard rushing game, and he just continues to perform at a high level. And I don’t know if we had the 50 yard run we’ve had, that streak might be ended, but another 100 yard game, we’re proud of that.”

Haynes ran for 117 yards and two touchdowns. In total (five games), Haynes has 654 yards and eight touchdowns this season. He’s averaging 7.6 yards per carry this season.

Haynes was great, but the Wolverines’ defense swarmed Wisconsin. The Badgers, outside of the opening drive, never got rolling.

“First of all, I thought defensively (we were) outstanding,” Moore said. “The first drive, we just missed a lot. We missed the tackles there, and definitely adjusted offensively. The first quarter was good … by the end of the third quarter, into the fourth quarter, it looked like the type of ball we wanted to play. You know, we got a really good team. This is a really good football team, sound football team, but we gotta be better as we go into each game being played.”

Haynes starred on the ground, but freshman QB Bryce Underwood had himself an afternoon as well. He set a career high with 270 passing yards and a touchdown.

“Yeah. I mean, just the poise right,” Moore said. “The poise he has when it’s not going the way you want it. It just does a really good job of staying together, staying the course, and not panicking.”

Haynes is the key to the offense right now though. Alabama has to worry about Vanderbilt Saturday, but there’s no question he would’ve thrived in Tuscaloosa as well. For now, he’ll try and aid Michigan to a Big Ten title and a College Football Playoff appearance.
