On3 is releasing On300 for the 2023 cycle this week. Six prospects are set to add their fifth star in this rankings update.

Here’s more on the new five-star recruits:

EDGE Damon Wilson

No player ascended higher than Venice (Fla.) five-star EDGE Damon Wilson, up 17 spots and standing No. 4 in the country midway through the summer. Wilson now trails only Five-Star Plus+ quarterbacks Arch Manning and Nico Iamaleava, as well as elite EDGE Keon Keeley, in the overall pecking order. Wilson is the second defensive lineman to crack the top five.

Wilson fires off the ball and can close in a hurry. He passes the eye test in a major way at 6-foot-4 and almost 240 pounds, and he can bend the corner and close in a hurry. Alabama holds the lead over Miami on the Recruiting Prediction Machine.

EDGE Adepoju Adebawore – Oklahoma

Adepoju Adebawore climbed up 13 spots to No. 7 overall in the country after turning in a convincing performance at the UA Next Future 50 over the weekend. The recent Oklahoma commitment is a twitched-up 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, blending elite size and speed in one package. Adebawore was explosive off the ball and noticeably fast going through drills. That translated to 1-on-1s, where he continually was at an advantage with a notably quick first step and the length and motor to fly off the edge.

Adebawore is now a top-10 player in the 2023 cycle and undoubtedly one of more the intriguing EDGE defenders in this class along with the aforementioned Keeley and Wilson at the top.

OT Zalance Heard

Monroe (La.) Neville offensive tackle Zalance Heard checked off several boxes this offseason with a strong showing in his spring game and again at LSU‘s elite camp in June. Heard, who checked in at 6-foot-6 and 308 pounds with 36.5-inch arms, is light on his feet and intensely powerful. He explodes through blocks, establishes a perimeter and continues to impress with his football smarts.

After beginning his prep career on the defensive line and transitioning to right tackle last year, Heard has shined this entire offseason in action at left tackle. The in-state Tigers are favored on the RPM.

WR Jurrion Dickey – Oregon

Oregon commitment Jurrion Dickey climbed 20 spots in this update and cemented himself as one of the premier pass-catchers in the 2023 cycle after a dominant effort turned in at OT7 earlier this summer. Dickey, who is a bit of a hybrid receiver/tight end at 6-foot-3 and 210-plus pounds, is only 16 years old.

Dickey is a force in the passing game in the short, intermediate and deep passing game. His strong hands and big frame allow him to make plays in the middle of the field, yet he can make plays downfield as well. He creates physical mismatches routinely and has a rare combination of size, speed and athleticism.

WR Noah Rogers – Ohio State

Noah Rogers has a knack for big plays, and that was a theme during this evaluation period with the recent Ohio State verbal. Rogers, who averaged better than 20 yards per catch as a junior, came up with big play after big play at this summer’s OT7 tournament in Las Vegas. At 6-foot-2 and almost 200 pounds, Rogers is a big-bodied, big-play threat that’s been difficult to slow down in recent months.

Rogers made the move up 25 spots to No. 17 overall in the country. The future Buckeye is a long-strider with excellent hands and a knack for stretching the field vertically and providing big-play pop. He’s a big target in the passing game and has the speed to burn.

DB Peyton Bowen – Notre Dame

One of the biggest risers in the class is Denton (Texas) Guyer defensive back Peyton Bowen, now the No. 18 player in the country after a 19-spot climb in the updated On300 for 2023. The longtime Notre Dame commitment is coming off a stellar outing at the UA Next Future 50, where he shined in 1-on-1s, in 7-on-7 and the combine portion of the event.

Bowen, who is still being heavily pursued by the likes of Oklahoma, Alabama and Texas A&M, was stellar in coverage out of the nickel and even better patrolling over the top in 7-on-7 action. Bowen went step-for-step with bigger receivers with ease, showed range on the back end, and even picked off teammate Jackson Arnold. He’s an elite defensive back that can’t stay away from the ball.
