Stanford running back Nathaniel Peat is heading home.

Peat is expected to transfer to Mizzou, a source told On3’s Matt Zenitz. The Missouri native led Stanford with 404 rushing yards this season and entered the transfer portal on Jan. 10.

Peat was also a key part of the Cardinal’s return game. He ranked fifth in the Pac-12 with 663 punt return yards. He was a three-star recruit out of high school and the No. 14-ranked player in Missouri from the Class of 2019, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

In his three years with Stanford, Peat rushed for 665 yards and four touchdowns. His best year came this past year with 404 yards and three scores for the Cardinal.

As a return specialist, Peat totaled 1,126 yards and averaged 24.5 yards per return over his three years.

LSU lands Missouri defensive tackle out of transfer portal

The LSU Tigers are landing transfer portal prospects every day now it seems like. The latest to join Brian Kelly in Baton Rouge is former Missouri defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo.

Wingo, a class of 2021 signee, announced his decision on Twitter on Tuesday.

“Back to the Basics,” Wingo wrote, alongside his commitment graphic.

Nebraska, Oklahoma State, USC and more were all in the mix for his services. As this is a first transfer for Mekhi Wingo, he will be immediately eligible to play in 2022.

In 2021, Wingo notched 27 tackles, two TFLs, one sack and one interception, which he returned for a touchdown. His performance earned him a spot on the All-SEC Freshman team. Wingo is currently 6-foot-1, 275 pounds.

As a senior at DeSmet, he had 54 tackles as a senior in a COVID-shortened 2020 season. That followed a monster 2019 season when he had 97 tackles including 29 for loss and 15 sacks.

Coming out of high school, Wingo was a three-star prospect ranked as the No. 598 overall prospect in the country. He was also the No. 54 defensive lineman in the nation and No. 9 prospect in Missouri.
