TCU safety Jacob Fields dismissed from program
TCU safety Jacob Fields has been dismissed from the program for violating team rules, according to Jeremy Clark of 247Sports. Fields was the projected starter and replacement for Bud Clark, who the Seattle Seahawks selected in the second round of this year’s NFL draft.
TCU issued a statement regarding Fields. “Due to a violation of team rules, Jacob Fields has been removed from our roster and will not be a member of our football team moving forward,” the statement read.

Fields joined TCU this year after spending the previous three seasons at Louisiana Tech. In 2025, the Texas native played in 12 games and collected 92 tackles, three interceptions, and eight passes defended. During the 2024 season, Fields notched 54 tackles, two interceptions, and six passes defended in 13 games.
Fields played high school football at Melissa High School in Melissa, Texas. During his high school career, Fields tallied 156 tackles, eight interceptions, three forced fumbles, 28 passes defended, 22 touchdowns, and 1,108 all-purpose yards.

As a recruit, Fields was a three-star athlete and ranked No. 1488 in the On3|Rivals Industry Rankings Class of 2023. He was also ranked the No. 129 cornerback in the country and No. 236 in the state of Texas.
The loss of Fields is a big blow to TCU, as it was looking for a replacement for Clark. In 2025, Clark played in 10 games and totaled 56 tackles, four interceptions and seven passes defended. The previous year, Clark recorded 67 tackles, three interceptions and six passes defended.
TCU is looking to take the next step after going 9-4 the last two years. “The players are more dedicated than they’ve ever been,” TCU head coach Sonny Dykes said during Big 12 Media Days in July, per D210 Sports. “They work hard, take care of themselves, and understand the responsibility that comes with representing their schools.”
Dykes also discussed opening the 2026 season against North Carolina in Ireland. “We wanted to give our players the opportunity to experience Ireland,” Dykes said. “But first and foremost, it’s a business trip. Our goal is to go over there and win a football game.”
