Tennessee Twitter account trolls Alabama after upset win

Tennessee basketball knocked off Alabama just days after they were named the number one team in the nation, and took to Twitter to rub it in. The No. 10 Volunteers beat the No. 1 Crimson Tide 68-59 on Wednesday, and the Tennessee social media team was quick to ask if the result was similar to another showdown between the schools in recent memory.
Tennessee trolls Alabama on Twitter
Even if you’re not a big fan of football, chances are you heard about the matchup in Knoxville last season between the two storied programs — with Alabama entering that game as No. 3 in the nation against No. 6 Tennessee. Then, as they did on Wednesday at home again, the Volunteers upset the favored Crimson Tide and snapped a 15-game losing streak on the football field.
After they finished the job on the basketball court as well, Tennessee social media had a simple question for Alabama fans that was sure to drive them insane.

“Just like football?”
Ultimately, neither of the teams will likely be sitting at home during the playoff in basketball unlike football season where they both missed out on the College Football Playoff — so the season if far from over. Despite the long-term stakes being less important, the short-term is a huge boost to Tennessee after a tough week prior to Wednesday’s game.
The Vols lost games on back-to-back buzzer beaters and fell from their own high ranking in the standings to No. 10. With a huge win over the top team in the nation however, it’s likely that they’re on the path back up as the regular season draws closer to an end. Next up for Tennessee are a pair of tough road contests against Kentucky and Texas A&M, while Alabama will host Georgia before travelling to South Carolina.
