According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Texas Tech transfer Federiko Federiko has committed to Texas A&M. He will not be going too far, staying inside the Lone Star State. A big-time get for new head coach Bucky McMillan, snagging a top player out of the NCAA transfer portal.

Multiple other power conference programs were coming after Federiko. Indiana and Ole Miss were the two main ones, representing the Big Ten and SEC. Federiko will now get an opportunity to face the Rebels as a member of Texas A&M.

This is the second time Ferdericko has gone through the transfer portal process, beginning his career with the Pittsburgh Panthers. Two seasons were spent with Pitt before making the move to Lubbock, getting significant playing time as a freshman and sophomore.

Federiko found success with the Red Raiders, averaging 5.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He made 35 appearances (six starts), four of which were in the NCAA Tournament. Texas Tech made a run to the Elite Eights before losing to the eventual national champions, Florida.

According to the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings, Federiko was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 511 overall player to enter this cycle. And when looking at just power forwards, the ranking was just outside the top 100 at No. 117 for Federiko.

Plenty of excitement is brewing in College Station over McMillan’s arrival. Being able to land transfer portal targets such as Federiko proves why, adding another quality player to the roster.

Texas A&M continues to grab transfer portal commitments from in-state programs

Texas transfer forward Jamie Vinson is joining an in-state rival, committing to Texas A&M via the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Vinson is a rising sophomore who played in nine games this past season, averaging 2.2 points and 1.1 rebounds.

An Austin native, Vinson played high school basketball at Virginia’s Oak Hill Academy. He was ranked as the No. 217 overall prospect, the No. 47 power forward, and the No. 8 player in Virginia in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. On3 ranked Vinson as the No. 52 power forward and the No. 10 player in Virginia.

The Aggies are rebuilding their team after Buzz Williams left for Maryland, and they’re doing a bang-up job in the transfer portal. Earlier this month, former Oklahoma transfer guard Duke Miles committed to Texas A&M as well, with On3’s Joe Tipton confirming.
