Tim Tebow reveals who has edge in Heisman race between Hendon Hooker, CJ Stroud
Tim Tebow is no stranger to the Heisman Trophy, and he believes either Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker or Ohio State signal caller CJ Stroud will join him in the group of college football legends.
In an appearance on SportsCenter on Saturday morning, the former Florida superstar revealed which of the two quarterbacks he believes has the edge in the race at the moment.

“Both of them so deserving,” Tebow said of Hooker and Stroud in regards to the Heisman Trophy. “They’ve had unbelievable seasons. You look at Hendon Hooker, 21 touchdowns, one interception and an amazing, amazing performance against Alabama in one of the biggest games there in Rocky Top in decades, honestly. Then you look at CJ Stroud, and what has he not done flawlessly? It has been incredible. I believe he has four interceptions and 28 touchdowns, that’s stupid. These two kids are playing phenomenal.
“They both have massive tests today, but if I was giving a slight edge right now today, with a lot of season to play, I’m going to give a slight edge to Hendon Hooker, just because he’s had bigger games, and he came up so big, not in the first, second or third quarter, but in the fourth quarter, when it mattered most. Down 49-42, he leads his team on a drive, touchdown. Then they get the ball back, two daggers right in Alabama, set them up for a field goal. So right now if I had to vote, I give the slight edge to Hendon Hooker.”

Evidently, Tebow believes Hooker has the edge at the moment, and it’s tough to argue with his selection. The Volunteers star has passed for 2,093 yards and 18 touchdowns on the season to just one interception, as the SEC Network analyst mentioned.
Still, Stroud won’t go quietly into the night, as many believe he’s the front-runner when it comes to the Heisman. The Ohio State star leads the nation in touchdown passes with 28, while throwing for 2,023 yards and four interceptions, as well.
Regardless, both Hendon Hooker and CJ Stroud have plenty of football remaining, and Tim Tebow and analysts alike will continue to debate the Heisman Trophy in the meantime. It’s going to be a fascinating race to New York later this December.
