Todd McShay high on Auburn wide receivers, ability to help Jackson Arnold

Following five consecutive seasons of hovering around bowl game eligibility for the Auburn Football program, some real excitement is flowing through the fanbase prior to the 2025 season. A big part in this has to be the absolute superstars that head coach Hugh Freeze boasts in the wide receiver room.
Georgia Tech transfer wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. (On3’s No. 4 ranked transfer) and sophomore wide receiver Cam Coleman, who were both present in SEC Network analyst Chris Doering‘s top-five SEC receivers list, are two major targets for transfer quarterback Jackson Arnold.
NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay revealed that he is extremely high on both Singleton Jr. and Coleman’s potential on turning the program around, along with lauding the addition of Wake Forest wide receiver Horatio Fields.
“Eric Singleton. Burner. 104 (receptions) for 1468 (yards) and nine (touchdowns) in the last two years at Georgia Tech. Chess piece on offense,” McShay said during an episode of “The McShay Show”. “It’s not just Singleton, it’s Cam Coleman. And they added this guy Horatio Fields from Wake Forest, also really productive and highly sought after. So Hugh Freeze has got some dudes now. And they’ve got to believe in Jackson Arnold to make him the guy to operate this guy so that’s gonna be fascinating.”
Auburn is set to have one of the best WR rooms in the country
The trio of Singleton Jr., Coleman and Fields hauled in 132 receptions for 1,815 yards and 15 touchdowns last season and should be deadly weapons for Arnold if used correctly. McShay didn’t even mention sophomore wide receiver Malcolm Simmons, who caught 40 passes for 451 yards and three scores last season.

It was unknown whether or not Simmons would suit up for Auburn this season after he was arrested due to domestic assault with strangulation or suffocation in mid-July, but all charges in the case were dropped earlier this week.
The 2025 season is ultra important for Oklahoma transfer quarterback Jackson Arnold, who struggled mightily last season. Arnold played in just 10 games, where he passed for 1,421 yards, 12 touchdowns and three interceptions. The Sooners however went just 5-5 in those 10 games, leading to his unceremonious departure following the season.
With the talent level in the wide receiver room through the roof, Arnold is set up to enjoy a bounce back season this year. Auburn opens its 2025 season on Aug. 29 at Baylor. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM on FOX.
