Tom Izzo reacts to Michigan State 'spoiling' Vlad Goldin's proposal: 'It doesn't bother me'

Michigan big man Vlad Goldin proposed to his girlfriend after the Wolverines’ loss to Michigan State on Friday night. He popped the question on the court inside an empty Crisler Center after the game.
Joining ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday morning, Spartans head coach Tom Izzo was asked if there was any part of him that felt remorseful for making the moment bittersweet for the 7-foot-1 Russian. Of course, Izzo being the winningest basketball coach in Big Ten Conference history, means he has little empathy for ruining what is hopefully a once-in-a-lifetime moment for the Michigan basketball star if it meant victory for his team.
“Spoiling the moment? What do you mean spoiling the moment?” Izzo told Davis tongue-in-cheek. “It doesn’t bother me. I wish him and her all the luck in the world but no, that doesn’t work here. … I hope he has a great marriage and 70 years of togetherness, but right now, I’m just going to worry about winning a game.”
Of course, his now fiancé, Camryn Vogler, was all smiles alongside Goldin courtside after the game, posing for a picture for Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press. Garcia revealed that Goldin had been keeping the ring inside the Michigan locker room since he bought it.
Volger and Goldin appear to have met when the two attended Florida Atlantic together. She is a former volleyball player there, and Goldin played for the men’s basketball program under Dusty May for three seasons from 2021-2024.

Goldin transferred to Michigan after May took the open job in Ann Arbor. He’s currently averaging 15.9 points per game for the Wolverines, a team-high, to go along with 6.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. His 63.9% field goal percentage is good for seventh-best in the country. Goldin logged a team-high 21 points and five assists during the losing effort to Michigan State.
The loss drops Michigan to 20-6 on the season, and 12-3 in Big Ten action. The win also places the Spartans ahead of the Wolverines the the current conference standings and enters the weekend with a half-game advantage over Michigan in the race to win the regular season title.
These two programs will meet once more during the regular season finale on March 9, with this matchup being hosted by the Spartans in East Lansing. For now, Michigan will move forward and shift its focus toward a Monday night road trip to Nebraska. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET live on FS1.
