college football week 7 top games to watch

Five top-25 ranked teams lost in Week 6 of the 2025 college football season, none more surprising than Penn State’s 42-37 loss at winless UCLA. The loss is the Nittany Lions’ second of the season; they’ve yet to defeat a Power Four opponent.

Week 7 of the college football season is filled with at least four top-25 matchups and more chaos is guaranteed. Here are the top 10 games of Week 7 of the college football schedule:

Indiana at Oregon

Location: Eugene
Time: 3:30 p.m. ET
Channel: CBS

Indiana and Oregon are both coming off bye weeks ahead of the top-10 matchup in Eugene. With College GameDay in town, seeding in the College Football Playoff could be on the line. Oregon quarterback Dante Moore and Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza are both picking up Heisman Trophy buzz — Saturday could prove to be a moment for one of them.

Oklahoma-Texas

Location: Dallas
Time: 3:30 p.m. ET
Channel: ABC

Texas has yet to beat a Power Four team this season. If the Longhorns want to keep their CFP hopes alive, they’ll have to win their first against Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry. Sooners quarterback John Mateer’s status remains unknown as he recovers from right-hand surgery. Brent Venables said following the Kent State win that he’s assuming Mateer will not be available.

Alabama at Missouri

Location: Columbia
Time: Noon ET
Channel: ABC

Missouri has jumped out to a perfect 5-0 start to the season, led by running back Ahmad Hardy’s 730 rushing yards. The Tigers had the bye week to get ready for Ty Simpson and Alabama, which has picked up wins over Georgia and Vanderbilt in back-to-back weeks. If Missouri wants a shot at the CFP, this will be a moment to prove it.

Ohio State at Illinois

Location: Champaign
Time: Noon ET
Channel: FOX

Illinois lost at Indiana two weeks ago but is back on track with wins over USC and Purdue. For the Fighting Illini to officially re-enter the CFP conversation, a win over Ohio State would do it. The Buckeyes are off to a 5-0 start as their defense has allowed zero touchdowns when opponents have entered the red zone.

Michigan at USC

Location: Los Angeles
Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
Channel: NBC

It’s a cross-country showdown with Michigan traveling to USC for the first time since 1957. Michigan’s defense remains one of the best in the nation. USC is coming off a bye week after faltering at Illinois a week ago. Quarterback Jayden Maiava has emerged as another top Lincoln Riley quarterback but will face a tough test from the Wolverines.

South Carolina at LSU

Location: Baton Rouge
Time: 7:45 p.m. ET
Channel: SEC Network

LSU and Brian Kelly are coming off the bye after losing at Ole Miss. Garrett Nussmeier’s health remains a concern as he deals with an abdominal injury. How he looks coming off a week of rest will be key to what the remainder of the season looks like for the Tigers. South Carolina already has two losses but could re-enter the CFP mix with a win in Death Valley at night.

BYU at Arizona

Location: Tucson
Time: 8 p.m. ET
Channel: ESPN2

Arizona has emerged as a top team in the Big 12 in Year 2 under Brent Brennan. The Wildcats and quarterback Noah Fifita have not struggled to put points on the board. They’ll face a BYU defense allowing only 239.6 yards and 12.2 points per game. BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier has been near perfect, leading the Cougars to a 5-0 start and throwing seven touchdowns to one interception.

Arizona State at Utah

Location: Salt Lake City
Time: 10:15 p.m. ET
Channel: ESPN

Outside of the loss to Texas Tech, Kyle Whittingham’s defense has been the identity for Utah this season, while quarterback Devon Dampier has been one of the most exciting quarterbacks to watch. Arizona State has recovered since faltering early in the season at Mississippi State. The Sun Devils are coming off the bye.

Georgia at Auburn

Location: Auburn
Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
Channel: ABC

Georgia had its get-right game on Saturday against Kentucky, breezing to a 35-14 win as Gunner Stockton showed off what he can do running the ball. Auburn had a bye week to prepare for the Bulldogs following losses to Oklahoma and Texas A&M. Hugh Freeze is still searching for a signature win in Year 3. Could it come in primetime at Jordan-Hare?

Florida at Texas A&M

Location: College Station
Time: 7 p.m. ET
Channel: ESPN

Billy Napier remains alive at Florida after the Gators picked up a 29-21 win over Texas this weekend, improving to 2-3 on the season. The Aggies are undefeated, sitting at a perfect 5-0, led by Heisman contender quarterback Marcel Reed. Napier picking up a win in College Station would go a long way for a bid at another season in Gainesville.
