Top-100 athlete Malachi Coleman cuts list with a commitment coming this fall

On Oct. 15, Malachi Coleman will announce his commitment. Between now and then, he will take two more official visits, break down his finalists, and figure out which school is the best for him.
Heading into his senior season, the No. 77 prospect in the On3 Consensus is focused on Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, and USC.
Over the summer, he took an official visit to Nebraska, the local program. He is only going to take two more official visits before he announces his commitment. USC will receive one on Sept. 17, then two weeks later, on Oct. 1, Coleman will visit Ole Miss.
After those visits, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound four-star athlete will have visited all seven schools on his list. He will then focus on making his decision.
“All seven schools are schools I could see myself at,” Coleman told On3. “I have seen most of these schools already and there are a lot of similarities. They have strong academic programs, I like the football at each school, and I have relationships with coaches at each school.”

One thing different is where each school sees Coleman lining up for them. Georgia, Nebraska, and Ole Miss have recruited Coleman to play wide receiver. Oklahoma likes him as a tight end in the offense. Coleman is an outside linebacker target for Michigan and USC. Oregon is recruiting him as an athlete.
This will weigh into Coleman’s decision, but going to a program that is headed in the right direction may be the biggest factor in the end.
“What position I feel best about and where I want to play is something I have to figure out, but what is very important to me is how the school is trending,” Coleman said. “I will be watching football every Saturday when the season starts and I will really be breaking things down.
“I want to play for a school that is making progress, trending up, and winning. The position I play and relationships are important to me, but winning is something I am looking at very seriously.
“Where I go, I want to win and play for a winning coaching staff.”
