The early signing period starts on November 9 and runs through November 16. I was curious about the schools that have recruited in the most talent. Of course, winning on signing day is just a part of winning in March. But I wanted to take a look through the past five On3 Consensus rankings to see who signed the most players ranked among the top 150 from 2018 to 2022.

The industry-standard On3 Consesus ranking model takes the average of the Rivals, ESPN, 247, and On3 rankings and places them in that order. The weight of each ranking is distributed evenly, 25 percent, to give a true consensus on each player.

Interesting observations

Duke is the only program on this list to have an On3 Consensus No. 1 ranked player. They had two during this period; RJ Barrett in 2018 and Dereck Lively in 2022. Interestingly enough, none of the other three programs to sign a No. 1 player made this list. Memphis, with James Wiseman in 2019, signed ten in this time frame. Gonzaga, with Chet Holmgren, signed 12 On3 Consensus top-150 guys, and Oklahoma State, with Cade Cunningham, signed nine.

We can also say that not every top 150 ranked player is built equally. Typically the top 15 to 25 or so guys are earmarked as five stars. During this time frame, Ohio State is the only program on the list to not sign any five-stars. Duke and Kentucky each signed 12 five-stars in this five year span. No other program signed more than the five North Carolina signed.

In looking at the four national championships during this time frame, 2020 was canceled due to COVID, only Kansas (2022) appears on this list.

Another interesting note is the G-League Ignite program just missed this list, signing 13 players. The first class they signed players from was in 2020, so they have only been around for three recruiting cycles. Seven signed in the first class, then four in 2021, and this past class saw Leonard Miller and London Johnson sign with the program.

Here is a snapshot of where the top high school talent has signed from 2018 to 2022. The top ten schools (it is actually 13 schools due to ties) that have signed the most On3 Consensus top 150 ranked players in the last five recruiting cycles.

**for those curious, Arkansas, UConn, and Illinois were next up with 13 signed.
