Tre Wisner injury update: Latest provided on Texas RB vs. Florida in Thursday injury report

The Texas Longhorns are travelling to The Swamp to open SEC play by taking on the Florida Gators. It’s the second year in a row these two will meet in conference play, with Texas winning in a blowout a season ago, but it’s just the fifth time these two have met all-time.
For Florida, head coach Billy Napier enters on the hot seat. Getting an upset win here would go a long way to righting the ship for the Gators in a season where they’ve opened at just 1-3. As for Texas, the Longhorns enter at 3-1 but without a Power Four win. On top of that, quarterback Arch Manning has faced mounting pressure to live up to expectations that were placed on him coming into the season.
Ahead of the game, SEC schools release availability reports, sharing the status for players on their roster, with updates starting on Wednesday and being updated daily before the game. Already, there are several key players who aren’t going to be able to suit up for this battle.

More on Texas and Florida ahead of their matchup
Several key players for Florida have already been ruled out. That includes running back Treyaun Webb and running back Ja’Kobi Jackson. The loss of Jackson, in particular, is a difficult one for the Gators. He has 27 carries for 98 yards on the season, making him second on the team in rushing behind Jadan Baugh.

Those injuries at running back are also, likely, going to put more pressure on quarterback DJ Lagway to perform. Following their loss to Miami, Lagway had reportedly been in a walking boot. That’s after he missed the Texas game a season ago with a different injury. Luckily, it appears he’ll be able to go this year, though it’s a tough task for a quarterback who has struggled with turnovers and consistency in the first month of the season.
Texas, for its part, has its own questions at running back. On Wednesday’s availability report, running back CJ Baxter was listed as doubtful, while Tre Wisner was questionable. In their place, Jerrick Gibson and James Simon have been asked to take on more of a workload. At the same time, Texas will lean on quarterback Arch Manning to attack the Florida defense.
Florida is scheduled to host Texas on Saturday, October 4th. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EST, so expect the heat to play a factor in this game as well.
