We are in the middle of the holiday season. And some kid sitting courtside in Madison Square Garden for the UCLA-North Carolina game apparently had one too many holiday treats. He puked on the floor, causing a delay in the game at halftime. Eventually, the mess was cleaned up by the staff members at Madison Square Garden and the game resumed.

Here’s a picture of the mess.

It’ll go down as one of the more hilarious reasons for a delay of a basketball game in quite some time. Thankfully, everything was cleaned up and fans could get back to watching some college basketball in one of the best venues in the country.

North Carolina battled back from 16 down to tie it up with a little bit more than a minute remaining. And the two teams were tied at 72-72 with 48 seconds left. UNC guard RJ Davis was called for a charge with 48 seconds left when he drove to the hoop.

UCLA drained two free throws to go up 74-72. Then RJ Davis drained one of his two free throw attempts to cut the Bruins lead to 74-73 with 22.2 left in the game. He also hit two more to give UNC the 75-74 lead with 10.3 left. North Carolina won 76-74, giving them their first win over a Top 25 team this season.

It’s been a familiar spot for the ‘Heels, as they’ve found themselves having to battle back in a number of their games. Star freshman Ian Jackson stepped up bigtime, pumping in 24 points and grabbing four rebounds. He was one of the most coveted prospects in the nation coming out of high school, checking in as the No. 8 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking for the 2024 cycle.

It’s a big resume win for UNC, who currently sits at 7-5 overall on the 2024 campaign. Their record is a bit deceiving, as they’ve been handed some close losses to tough competition (Kansas, Michigan State, Florida).

The game was part of the CBS Sports Classic being played in New York City (Madison Square Garden). The second game played was Kentucky–Ohio State. OSU won that one 85-65.
