Cody Bby:Cody Bellaire03/12/23

ARLINGTON, Texas – Well over 100 of the top prospects from the Lone Star State made their way to North Texas to take part in the Dallas stop of the Under Armour Next Series – the circuit’s third event of the year. The event featured dozens of blue-chip prospects from the 2024, 2025 and 2026 cycles.

On3’s Cody Bellaire was on hand at Arlington Martin High School on Sunday to take in the action. Here are On3’s top performers from the day, headlined by a 2024 wide receiver who On3 ranks as a top 25 prospect nationally.

On3 MVP: WR Bryant Wesco

Bryant Wesco was a menace to cover all afternoon. Whether it was 50-50 jump balls, intermediate routes or anything underneath – he was unstoppable. The Midlothian (Texas) High standout solidified his MVP performance with the catch of the afternoon, elevating on a jump ball in the end zone during the 1-on-1 portion of the workout. His natural hands, ability to separate at the top of his route and explosiveness to high point the football really shined in what was a talented wide receiver group. Wesco ranks as the No. 25 overall prospect in the On300. TCU and Oklahoma are out front according to his On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

2. S Paul Mencke Jr.

Paul Mencke Jr. was arguably the most physically impressive defensive back at the event. He looks to have ridiculous length. Mencke also showed a smooth pedal and ability to change direction during the 1-on-1 portion of the workout. He was physical at the line of scrimmage and did an excellent job of rerouting receivers at the snap. Mencke also came down with one of the few interceptions of the day. The Cibolo (Texas) Samuel Clemens product also displayed textbook high point ability and natural instincts. With his physical stature and smooth movement skills, Mencke looked like a three-dimensional defensive back prospect that can not only hit, but play stout man and zone coverage as well. Mencke ranks as the No. 179 overall prospect in the On300. Kansas, Colorado, Arizona State and Iowa State are among the programs in the mix per his On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

3. RB Taylor Tatum

Taylor Tatum is a well-built back who can still wiggle between the tackles and pull away from secondary defenders. While that skill set is well established on Friday nights, it was Tatum’s ability to catch the football that was turning heads during Sunday’s event. The Longview Lobo forced linebackers to grasp at air on a number of routes during the 1-on-1 portion of the event. Tatum also displayed natural hands and ball tracking. He showed loose hips and the ability to play physically – even as a receiver. The East Texas native struggled with a couple contested catches and had a drop that he would love to forget about, but he still was able to show his skill set as an every down back. Tatum ranks as the No. 43 overall prospect and No. 2 running back in the 2024 cycle per On3. In-state Baylor, Texas A&M and Texas are among the programs in contention per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

4. LB Kelvion Riggins (2025)

Kelvion Riggins was the most physically impressive player at the entire event on Sunday, in our opinion. Riggins looks like he could be in the two-deep of an NFL roster right now. But he didn’t just look the part, he played the part as well. The South Oak Cliff product moved with burst and explosiveness throughout the entire workout. He showed excellent change of direction and the ability to stick his foot in the ground and trigger to the football. Riggins was beaten only a couple of times during the 1-on-1 portion, but showed savviness in coverage and looked extremely comfortable on majority of the reps. His arm length is an added bonus when it comes to playing through receivers’ hands at the catch point. This was evident, as he broke up multiple passes even when he seemed out of phase. Riggins showed he has the size and athleticism of a top-tier talent in the state of Texas. Texas A&M leads in the four-star’s On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

5. EDGE Cheta Ofili

Cheta Ofili was the most disruptive pass rusher at at Under Armour Dallas. His length and palpable twitch made viewers gasp when he shot off the line of scrimmage. Ofili showed elite athleticism and bend throughout individual drills and during the 1-on-1 period. The Sachse (Texas) High product has immense upside due to his athletic traits and frame. He’ll need to continue polishing his technique and develop an understanding of leverage, but the ceiling looks to be very high. Ofili holds an offer from Texas Tech and ranks as a high three-star per On3.

6. QB DJ Lagway – Florida

DJ Lagway worked in windy conditions on Sunday afternoon and only further cemented his case as owning one of the strongest arms in the entire 2024 cycle. The Florida pledge displayed strong zip and ball ballistics during the individual period and 1-on-1 sessions. We know Lagway can throw the ball with great velocity, but he also showed some notable touch and ball placement on deep throws. The Willis (Texas) High signal had a few throws he wishes he could have back, but given the conditions it was a strong showing for the top Texas passer. Lagway ranks as the No. 21 overall prospect and No. 3 quarterback in the On300. He committed to Florida on December 7, 2022.

7. OT Blake Ivy

The most impressive performance along the offensive line was turned in by Blake Ivy. The suddenness in his movements combined with fantastic length made Ivy nearly impossible to get by during the 1-on-1 portion of Sunday’s event. The 6-foot-4 offensive tackle prospect is well proportioned throughout his frame and still has room for growth. Ivy has immense raw power and serious shock in his hands when he shoots his opponent. The League City (Texas) Clear Springs blocker has all the physical tools to develop into a premier player at the next level. Ivy’s showed some potentially special upside at Under Armour Dallas. Houston, Texas, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech are among the programs in the mix for Ivy, who ranks as the No. 111 overall prospect in the On300.

8. RB Riley Wormley (2025)

The lone offensive underclassmen in the top performers is the two-way star out of Colleyville Heritage. Riley Wormley is surprisingly filled out for a 2025 prospect of his stature and is extremely savvy as a route runner. He consistently separated from defenders during 1-on-1’s and tracked the ball downfield with ease. His change of direction and ability to stop and start lead to multiple uncontested catches. Wormley has some slight stiffness in his hips and needs to add mass to his frame, but the upside as a three-down back was very evident during today’s workout.

9. IOL Daniel Cruz

If Blake Ivy had the most eye-popping performance of the offensive lineman, then Daniel Cruz was the most consistent. His balance and ability to stay in control comfortably impressed. Cruz is rarely over his toes and out of position as a pass blocker. At one point in 1-on-1’s, Cruz found himself beaten off the snap and nearly teleported in front of the rusher and anchored in a split-second. It was easily the most impressive rep of the entire morning session. He continued to beat defenders throughout the period. Cruz’s lack of length is noticeable, but as an interior prospect he is as sound as they come. He has the look of a safe and high ceiling prospect. Texas is in good position for the On300 prospect per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

10. LB Davhon Keys – LSU

Dahvon Keys is the definition of rocked-up. His muscle definition is at max capacity and he looked strong as an ox. The shock in his hands was impossible to ignore when he was striking pads during the individual portion of Sunday’s workout. Not only is Keys strong, he has light feet that allow him to stop and start quickly as well his move laterally with ease. In coverage, he showed toughness and physicality at the catch point making multiple pass breakups throughout the day. The LSU pledgegot crossed up at the top of routes 1-on-1 period on a few occasions, but he showed the physical ability to adjust and recover. Keys committed to LSU on March 11.

Additional notes

+ Conditions were tough for the quarterbacks during today’s workout but we were still able to see some gunslingers go out and rip it. 2025 passer Kevin Sperry spins a beautiful ball. He can lack some zip at times but that should come naturally as he continues to physically develop. Texas Tech commit Will Hammond also threw a great ball. His compact release and footwork are very polished for a young passer. 2025 quarterback Keelon Russell out of Duncanville stood out as well during the workout. His athleticism and ability to deliver an accurate football outside the pocket was very impressive. Texas commit Trey Owens also had a strong workout on Sunday. Not only did he throw with all the other quarterbacks during the afternoon session, but he put in double-time as one of the four passers for the morning session and was still throwing with gas at the end of the event.

+ With such a talented group of pass catchers there were plenty of players who made splash plays throughout the day. Cornelius Warren (2025), Kewan Lacy and Brandon Tullis were all impressive during the 1-on-1 portion of the workout. Dozie Ezukanma, Daylan McCutcheon (2025), Dakorien Moore (2025), Jordan Martin and Ernest Campbell all caught the ball naturally and showed excellent route running ability. Jewlyen Roberts showed some good wiggle and ability to separate at the tight end position as well.

+ Along the offensive and defensive fronts there were some toolsy talents on both sides of the ball. Michael Fasusi (2025), Micah DeBose (2025) and Koltin Sieracki all had strong reps during the 1-on-1 period. Charleston Collins and Brock Jackson showed some twitch and bend as pass rushers during the 1-on-1 portion as well as the individual period.

+ It was an impressive group in coverage at today’s event. The linebacker group was one of the strongest positions throughout the entire event. Tyanthony Smith, Temerrick Johnson and Markus Boswell all put on stellar performances and also have Power 5 ready frames. The defensive back group was strong as well, but Selman Bridges and David Kabongo separates themselves from the pack throughout the event.
