Last weekend, the Gophers suffered their second defeat of the season, a 42-3 loss to the Purdue Boilermakers. Here’s how Minnesota’s bowl projections look following the Golden Gophers’ defeat. The good news is that all projections have the Gophers going to a bowl, and one destination in particular is a popular pick.

Minnesota Football Bowl Projections

On3 (McMurphy):

McMurphy has Minnesota headed to the Frisco Bowl in Frisco, Texas, on December 23. Their projected opponent would be the Washington State Cougars of the Pac-12. The two programs have met six times all-time, the last matchup coming in the 2016 Holiday Bowl, a 17-12 win for the Gophers.

Athlon (Lassan)

Athlon Sports predicts the Gophers will return to Detroit, a place they’ve grown accustomed to spending the bowl season. Steven Lasson projects the Gophers to the GameAbove Sports Bowl to face the Ohio Bobcats on December 26. The Gophers are 9-1-1 against the Bobcats all-time.

CBS Sports

CBS Sports is also projecting the Gophers to head to the GameAbove Sports Bowl in Detroit to face the Ohio Bobcats. The Gophers have been to Detroit three times since 2015, making trips in 2015, 2019, and 2023. The Gophers’ last matchup against Ohio came in 2015, a 27-24 win for Minnesota.

ESPN (Bonagura | Schlabach):

Both ESPN bowl experts have the Gophers headed to the GameAbove Sports Bowl in Detroit on December 26.
