Updated On3 5-star: No. 9, WR Zachariah Branch

Now that official visits are already taking place, the recruiting world has officially turned its eyes toward the Class of 2023. With a bevy of notable quarterbacks, a geographic diversity among the nation’s top players and plenty of other notable storylines, the 2023 cycle is shaping up to be one of the most interesting in recent memory. And, per usual, the players at the top of the class will be among the most highly recruited in the nation. The latest edition of the On300 features 15 players with a coveted five-star rating. Next up on the countdown is the No. 9 overall prospect in the 2023 cycle, Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman receiver Zachariah Branch.
Zachariah Branch has held the No. 9 spot the past couple of updates. He’s also ranked as the No. 1 receiver in the country and the best prospect in Nevada, according to On3. Branch made a very early commitment to USC, picking the Trojans over a long, long list of national scholarship offers.
Zachariah Branch Scouting Summary
“Zachariah Branch is one of the more dynamic receiver prospects in the nation, regardless of class. Built like a traditional slot wide receiver at 5-foot-9, 170 pounds. He is an elite track athlete with a 10.33 second 100-meter mark and a 24-foot-long jump as a sophomore. Additionally, he is able to harness that speed on the football field with his high-end change of direction. Creates big plays as a deep threat and after the catch. Very difficult for defenders to tackle in space.
“Furthermore, Branch is a fluid mover with route-running and true wide receiver skills in addition to considerable athleticism. Shows good ball skills with the ability to track and make extended catches in traffic. Plays at powerhouse Bishop Gorman and was a standout performer in four games against national competition in addition to the state title game. Looks like one of the best sub-5-foot-11 wide receiver prospects in several cycles.” – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
