Urban Meyer Gives Respect to Deion Sanders and Colorado for Battling Adversity and Finding a Way to Win

Urban Meyer is locking in his prediction for Deion Sanders‘ trip to Eugene, leading Colorado against Oregon on Saturday.

Joining Tim May for Urban’s Take, the former Ohio State leader prefaced his prediction by elaborating on how tough of a matchup it’ll be, but he believes the Buffaloes are built for the challenge.

“This’ll be a tough go … I get it, at times it looks different, but behind the scenes now, he’s a football coach and that’s a football team and they’re good. You know how I feel about toughness. The great thing about this game, you could maybe make it look a little different. Call it the spread offense. Make it look a little different, sunglasses or whatever it is.

“At the end of the day, if you have practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, and you bloody your nose and your tough, and you know how to fight through stuff, you’re going to win games, and that’s what they’re doing. So don’t get confused by some of the stuff you see, because behind the scenes he’s an excellent football coach, he’s got a great staff and good players, and they’re tough.”

While Meyer believes Colorado has a shot, which is more than what many are giving them against the Ducks, he believes Oregon will pull off the victory, and send Sanders home with his first loss as the leader of Colorado.

“I don’t think they will. I think this’ll be a tough go for them,” Meyer said, asked to predict the game. “It’s on the road. They’re without Travis Hunter. But I’m looking at this team, they’ll be bowl eligible. They’ll win enough games.”

Throughout the first three weeks of the season, the success of Colorado has caused a team like Oregon to fly a bit under the radar. They’ve been impressive thus far, winning all three of their showdowns, including a tough out-of-conference road matchup with Texas Tech in Week 2.

Quarterback Bo Nix has proved why many believe he’s a Heisman candidate at the moment. Nix has complied 78-of-98 passes for 893 yards and eight touchdowns, and hasn’t thrown an interception yet.

On the other side is of course Shedeur Sanders, who has lit up the scoreboard and led Colorado to three victories on the season, as well. While Nix was a Heisman candidate coming into the season, Sanders has crashed the party, and he doesn’t want to leave.

Urban Meyer may not believe Colorado will win, but don’t tell the Buffaloes that. They believe in themselves, and that could be enough for them to find victory.
