USC quarterbacks coach in attendance to watch Texas A&M 5-star QB commit Husan Longstreet

The first round of the CIF Southern Section Football Championships has arrived, and Centennial High School will face Mission Viejo in a battle of two of California’s finest.
Leading the way for Centennial is five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet. Longstreet, a Texas A&M commit, is the nation’s No. 23 overall prospect and No. 4 quarterback in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
In attendance for the star-studded game is USC quarterbacks coach Luke Huard.
Carrollton (Ga.) top-50 quarterback Julian Lewis has been committed to USC since August 2023 when he was still a member of the class of 2026. With under a month until National Signing Day, he is now favored to land elsewhere.
On Monday, On3’s Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong logged expert predictions for Lewis to flip his commitment from Southern Cal to Colorado.

With Lewis looking like he may end up elsewhere, USC has turned its attention to Centennial’s Longstreet, who has been pledged to A&M since April.

“Well, I think talks have intensified with in-state quarterback, local quarterback — five-star Husan Longstreet,” On3’s Steve Wiltfong said Thursday of USC’s recruitment of Longstreet. “He’s committed to Texas A&M. Here’s what I know about USC and quarterback recruiting — Lincoln Riley basically recruits guys one at a time. So when he was locked in on Julian Lewis, Bryce Underwood wanted to visit. ‘Nope. Nope, nope, nope — no quarterbacks on campus. We’re all-in on Julian Lewis, he’s our guy.’
“Things are picking up with Husan Longstreet, and USC needs to sign a quarterback in 2025,” Wiltfong continued. “He’s the only one they’re recruiting right now, which tells me that they have confidence that they can flip Husan Longstreet. Because, if they didn’t, they would be on another guy. Maybe they were on Bryce Baker, who is committed to North Carolina, but Bryce Baker looks strong with the Tar Heels.”
Longstreet has been over to campus in Los Angeles multiple times this fall, according to Wiltfong.
“Husan Longstreet is the guy that’s heating up behind the scenes. He’s had dialogue, he’s been on campus — not for games, but just individual visits with USC this fall. Now the conversation still remains good and positive with Texas A&M. His brother is at Texas A&M, he’s been all the big games at Texas A&M this fall.
