South Carolina was one of the first schools to make an offer to Robinson. That offer was back in March of 2021. That loyalty certainly played a role in getting consensus four-star linebacker to commit to South Carolina on July 4.

However, a day prior to his commitment he received an offer from Florida. Former Gamecocks outside linebackers/edge coach Mike Peterson is one of the Gators coaches who has been heavily recruiting the linebacker.

According to Gamecock Central recruiting insider Wes Mitchell, since his commitment to South Carolina, Robinson has visited the Gators at least twice.

Standing at 6-foot-1, 212 pounds, Robinson is rated as the 35th top linebacker in the nation for the class of 2023. He originally committed to South Carolina over finalists Kentucky, Michigan and Maryland.

Even with Robinson’s decomitment, the gamecocks have landed 16 commitments so far for the class of 2023 including seven four-star commitments

Days after landing the highest commitment in the Shane Beamer era, South Carolina has earned another pledge from a highly touted four-star prospect.

Offensive lineman Oluwatosin Babalade announced his commitment to the Gamecocks on Aug. 5. Better known as “Tree,” he becomes the ninth four-star commitment for USC’s class of 2023.

Rated as the 17th top offensive lineman in the nation for his class, Babalade picks South Carolina over a long list of power five schools including Maryland, Rutgers and North Carolina.

There’s a reason why they call him Tree. Or better yet, there’s a reason why his Twitter handle is Big Tree because the Maryland native stands at 6-5, 308 pounds. His wingspan prior to his senior season was measured at 6-foot-10. And yet despite being that large, he can move. Tree runs a 4.85 in the short shuttle.
