Washington Huskies quarterback Dermaricus Davis has entered his name from the NCAA transfer portal once again, On3 has learned. He originally entered in January, but withdrew his name within a couple of days.

Davis played high school football at Etiwanda (CA) where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 266 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He finished as a Top-20 QB in the class and a Top-25 player out of the state of California. Davis was the lone quarterback commit for the Huskies in their class that finished No. 48 in On3’s 2024 Industry Team Rankings.

He was the second-highest recruit of their dozen signees. He was behind only ATH Peyton Waters, a four-star and the No. 260 recruit out of Los Angeles. Waters also entered his name in the portal but has not withdrawn it yet.

In December, On3’s Charles Power raved about Davis’ potential, as it’s evident he’s a believer in his abilities.

“Dermanicus Davis has one of the strongest mechanical foundations among 2024 quarterbacks,” Power wrote. “The 6-foot-4.5, 190-pounder is a smooth, natural passer. He has an effortless, tight throwing motion that points to a projectable upside as a passer.

“The throwing motion and ability to manipulate trajectory with a high release point remind us of CJ Stroud at the same stage. Make no mistake, Davis is still developing as a player, but the natural passing skill set and resulting upside make him an intriguing get for Washington.”

Washington safety Vincent Holmes withdraws from NCAA Transfer Portal

In more positive news for the Huskies, Washington safety Vincent Holmes has withdrawn from the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. His retention is a big win for new head coach Jedd Fisch and his staff.

Holmes, a class of 2023 signee, will have multiple years of eligibility remaining. And this was Holmes’ second flirtation with the portal.

He entered the transfer portal during the January window, only to withdraw shortly after. And this time it was less than a day before Holmes reversed course.

Holmes played high school football at San Jacinto (Calif.) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 290 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
