Report: Washington State expected to finalize deal with South Dakota State coach Jimmy Rogers

Washington State is reportedly targeting South Dakota State coach Jimmy Rogers for its head coaching gig, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports’ Ross Dellenger.
Dellenger reports that the deal is “not done but is expected to get there soon.”
ESPN reports, via Pete Thamel, that the deal has been finalized and Rogers is set to make an average of $1.57 million per year over the length of a five-year deal.
Rogers captured the NCAA Division I Championship while with South Dakota State in 2023, producing a perfect 15-0 season. He is 27-3 overall in his two years with the program, while boasting a 15-1 conference mark.
Jimmy Rogers has spent much of his playing and coaching career with South Dakota State. He played linebacker for the program from 2005-09, becoming an all-conference player and a team captain.
He then began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at South Dakota State from 2010-11.
From there, he branched out to Florida Atlantic, where he was a graduate assistant from 2012-13. But the ties to South Dakota were real, and he would shortly return as a linebackers coach.

He served in that capacity at South Dakota State from 2013-18, before he was promoted to co-defensive coordinator in 2019. Jimmy Rogers served as the sole defensive coordinator in 2022, then he took the head coaching job in 2023.
The head coaching job at Washington State came open after Jake Dickert left for the open position at Wake Forest earlier this offseason.
Dickert had spent the past three and a half years as the head coach at Washington State, where he compiled a 23-20 overall record and a 9-14 mark in conference play.
