Nathan Acevedo, an unranked wide receiver in the 2022 recruiting class, submitted an early catch of the year candidate on Friday night. The high school senior at Lincoln High School in San Diego, California ran down the sideline on a go route, jumping over the defender and pinning the ball to the back of a Los Alamitos cornerback for a catch. The pass was thrown by senior quarterback Jalen Daniels, another unranked prospect from the state of California.

Acevedo finished the game with four catches for 150 yards and a touchdown, including an 80-yard catch and his highlight snag.

Like many high school athletes, Acevedo and Daniels missed the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now they are back and demonstrating their skills on a national stage.

The viral video of the high school catch has drawn the attention of fans and coaches alike. Acevedo holds offers from Fresno State, Idaho, UNLV and Utah State. Daniels holds an offer from Howard University and has received interest from schools like Arkansas and Auburn, according to 247 Sports.
