WATCH: Tom Brady sounds off on NFL's decision to add 17th game to season

When the NFL owners decided to add a 17th game to the 2021 NFL regular season and beyond, it wasn’t exactly warmly embraced by everyone in the league. Plenty of players were not happy about it, including Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady.
Here is the video if you wish to listen/watch the interview clip.
“I think it’s pointless,” Brady said Monday on his Let’s Go! podcast with Jim Gray. “I thought it was a terrible decision. So I don’t like the fact that we’re playing a 17th game at all. I think 16 is plenty. Again, you’re eight games into the year and you’re not halfway through, so that’s kind of a little frustrating aspect. So, whatever, I mean, we’ll play it. It’s there, you know, a lot of guys probably miss games over the course of the season anyway, so they probably don’t play all 16, most guys.”
Brady has a legitimate point here. Adding an extra game to the NFL slate just didn’t make a lot of sense for a number of reasons. The players already deal with so many injuries throughout the season. Why make them risk it in one more game? The move didn’t make a lot of sense.
It’s a smart business decision for the owners when it comes to purely money, but the owners have been short-sighted over the years when it comes to understanding the need to keep their players fresh and healthy.

If the players aren’t fresh and healthy, the on-field product will suffer tremendously.
New Orleans Saints star running back Alvin Kamara was not happy with the move to 17-games, either, and blasted the move on his Twitter account.
As he mentioned in the podcast, Brady has not been shy about voicing his opinion on certain topics over the years.
