The initial injury report for a Week 9 matchup between LSU and Texas A&M was released on Wednesday. That provides an early look at the health of both teams heading into a game that will be pivotal in the SEC standings.

Tigers linebacker Whit Weeks is one of several names on the early report, listed as XXX for the matchup against the Aggies due to a bone bruise. The junior sat out this past week’s game against Vanderbilt, which was the first game he missed this season. You can view the full injury report below.

No. 20 LSU Tigers (5-2, 2-2 SEC)

No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies (7-0, 4-0)

If Weeks is unable to go, it would be a big loss for the LSU defense. So far this season, he has recorded 29 tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery. Tigers coach Brian Kelly gave an update on his status earlier this week, saying he was still in a walking boot.

“Whit is still non-weightbearing,” Kelly said. “He’s in the boot, and we’ll keep the boot on him for another couple of days before we know what he can do. He’s been doing some additional treatments, and he’s feeling better, but we won’t know on him until later in the week.”

Since this is an SEC matchup, LSU and Texas A&M will both release availability reports throughout the week. In addition to Wednesday’s injury report, there will also be reports released on Thursday and Friday, then one final report that comes out 90 minutes before kickoff.

LSU enters this game in desperate need of a win after having lost two of its past three games. That includes last week’s 31-24 defeat on the road against the Commodores. That in mind, the health of not only Weeks but also the other players listed on the injury report is of utmost importance.

The series is fairly even, with LSU holding a 32-24-1 all-time record against Texas A&M. However, it was the Aggies who got the better of the Tigers last season by a score of 38-23.

A&M will hope for a similar result this year as it looks to keep marching toward a potential College Football Playoff berth. Kickoff for the contest is set for 7:30 p.m. ET in Baton Rouge.
