Will Compton claims Taylor Swift will not attend Cincinnati vs. Nebraska game with Travis Kelce after engagement

Just days after breaking the internet (and the world) with their surprise engagement announcement on Instagram, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce‘s pop superstar fiancé Taylor Swift will NOT be attending Thursday night’s game between Cincinnati and Nebraska at Arrowhead Stadium. Hearts of Swifties in Kansas City will be let down.
Kelce played at Cincinnati from 2008-2012 and has been a member of the Kansas City Chiefs (who play their home games at Arrowhead Stadium) since 2013. The newly engaged couple making their first public appearance at a college football game following the big announcement would have truly been one for the ‘Sickos Committee.’
Nebraska alum and co-host of the ‘Bussin with the Boys‘ podcast (which just secured a partnership with ESPN on Thursday), Will Compton, revealed on Thursday’s edition of ‘The Pat McAfee Show‘ that Swift indeed would not be partaking in some Big Ten/Big 12 football Thursday night.
“You know when Travis (Kelce) got engaged, I texted him and said hat’s off to you trying to distract the world from this ass-whooping that’s coming on Thursday night,” Compton said. “From what I’m hearing, the missus won’t be there, so it won’t take over the entire world. But yes, I am a little nervous about the aura of Travis Kelce walking in that stadium, but this is about the Huskers and the Bearcats and stopping (Brendan) Sorsby.”
Swift’s episode of ‘New Heights’ was awarded World Record last week
The announcement of the engagement came on the same day Guinness World Records formally acknowledged that Swift’s highly anticipated podcasting debut on the Kelce brothers’ New Heights podcast on Aug. 13 set the world record for most concurrent views for a podcast on YouTube. It landed that record with 1.3 million viewers.
The New Heights episode, which features one of Taylor Swift‘s most in-depth interviews and discussions ever recorded, boasted more than 380 million views on Instagram, 61.6 million views on Twitter/X, 34.5 million views on TikTok and nearly 21 million views on YouTube as of Tuesday. Since the episode aired, @newheightshow on Instagram has surpassed 3.3 million followers and the YouTube channel has gained 400k new subscribers.

Over the duration of the two-hour podcast, the trio discussed Swift’s upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl. Swift reclaimed her entire music catalog and Taylor’s first impression on both Jason and Travis.
In just the first two days, the Swift episode became the highest-viewed podcast in New Heights history. It surpassed Sept. 6, 2023’s episode, which featured Travis, Jason and Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce. The Swift episode currently sits at 15 million views, while the Kylie episode sits at 8.6 million views.
Swift’s long-awaited appearance on New Heights marked her podcast debut as she joined her new fiancé to announce her next album. The Life of a Showgirl will release Oct. 3, and Swift also unveiled the tracklist.
Although Swift will not be in attendance, football will still be played Thursday night between Nebraska and Cincinnati. Kick-off is scheduled for 9:00 PM on ESPN.
