Former SMU star QB Tanner Mordecai planning on transferring to Wisconsin

Former SMU star QB Tanner Mordecai plans to transfer to Wisconsin, sources tell On3.
Mordecai, a former Oklahoma QB, re-entered the transfer portal Thursday night after two seasons at SMU. In his two years with the Mustangs, he posted 72 total touchdown passes, including 33 this year.
Mordecai, who was a Davey O’Brien Award semifinalist this year, had been expected to enter the NFL draft. Instead, he’ll now head to the Big Ten to play under new Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell and new Badgers offensive coordinator Phil Longo, who was previously the OC at North Carolina.
Fickell faced Mordecai each of the last two years while the head coach at Cincinnati. Although Mordecai passed for just 171 total yards in those two games against Fickell and the Bearcats, Fickell has always been high on Mordecai as a player, per sources.

Mordecai is the second transfer QB that Wisconsin has landed in recent weeks. Oklahoma transfer Nick Evers, a Class of 2022 four-star recruit, committed to the Badgers Dec. 17.
