Auburn is expanding its NIL resources for its student-athletes.

Wednesday, the Tigers announced a new partnership with Altius Sports, an NIL education and advisory firm. The partnership will allow Auburn athletes and coaches to attend workshops and gives the athletic department more resources directed at licensing and recruiting, according to a press release.

“With Name, Image and Likeness now a pivotal component of the student-athlete experience, Auburn’s partnership with Altius Sports will maximize opportunities for student-athletes,” Auburn athletic director Allen Greene said in a statement. “We are thrilled to team with industry leader Altius to keep Auburn at the forefront of this dynamic landscape.”

Auburn is one of many universities to have an NIL collective, introducing NIL-Auburn led by former Tigers baseball player Rick Davidson. Now, the Tigers are adding more resources to help athletes navigate the NIL landscape.

Auburn athletic director Allen Greene on how college athletics should address NIL

Auburn athletic director Allen Greene has called for a balance in college athletics regarding NIL and the “deregulation” of the transfer portal. He wants athletes at Auburn and around the country to pursue their athletic endeavors — including NIL — while still maintaining the priorities of a normal student on campus as well.

“I believe in the core tenets of being a student and an athlete, getting an education and then pursuing your dreams athletically,” Greene said on the Paul Finebaum Show last month. “I know that, with NIL and with transfer deregulation, and some of the litigation that’s happening in our industry, It appears – and I see why – people would be cynical. I’m still holding out hope for this industry, making sure that we hold on to our young people being students and being athletes.”

With the almost simultaneous emergence of new transfer portal and NIL rules, athletes have been using both hand-in-hand to not only benefit from their personal brand, but also allows athletes to find the perfect fit for them on the field as well.
