Penn State sophomore quarterback Drew Allar used an NIL partnership with Kellogg‘s Frosted Flakes and the brand’s Mission Tiger program to present a $30,000 donation to Pennsylvania middle schools.

Allar presented the donation alongside Tony the Tiger on Wednesday. Allar also spent time with fans, playing games and taking part in a meet and greet.

“Over the past few years, there has been a notable lack of funding for middle school sports due to district-wide budget cuts,” according to a press release from Kellogg’s. “This has reduced sports programming and resulted in fewer teams – placing added pressure on kids to compete for limited spots on the team and ultimately leading to less fun in youth sports.”

North Carolina forward Armando Bacot, who announced earlier in the offseason his return to Chapel Hill for a fifth season, previously partnered with Frosted Flakes and its Mission Tiger program. Bacot and Frosted Flakes provided a donation to Brogden Middle School in Durham, North Carolina.

“Kids are quitting sports by age 11 due to an economic crunch that cuts access and opportunities for them to play and just have fun,” Kellogg Company Senior Director of Brand Marketing Laura Newman said in a statement. “Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes understands the vital role both fun and funding play in keeping kids in the game, so we’ve called on some of the most fun and talented college athletes to join our Mission Tiger team to help us bring fun back to youth sports and deliver donations to local middle schools.”

Allar and Bacot are part of a summertime tour across the country that Mission Tiger organized, which includes events held at grocery stores such as Albertsons, Giant Co. and Kroger.
