Florida State's Trey Benson inks NIL deal with Raising Cane's
When Florida State heads to Charlotte for ACC Media Days this week, Trey Benson will hear his name mentioned plenty.
The Seminoles running back is arguably one of the top returning tailbacks in college football. A former four-star recruit, he dealt with an injury and saw limited playing time in two seasons with Oregon.
Making the move to Tallahassee was a risk. It has paid off on the field and in NIL. A second-team All-ACC selection last year, he is now a notable piece of a Florida State team in a position to make a run at the College Football Playoff this season.
His marketability has continued to climb since his breakout year with the Seminoles. Benson has now inked an NIL deal with Raising Cane’s. The nationwide chicken fingers joint has been a key NIL player through the first two years of college athletics’ new era. Benson joins a list of Raising Cane’s NIL ambassadors that includes Angel Reese, Flau’jae Johnson, Stetson Bennett, the Cavinder twins and Spencer Rattler.
Announced in a video on his Instagram, Benson showed off his favorite meal at the fast food destination. The running back goes all-in on the Cane’s sauce, too, nabbing two of them along with his fries and chicken.
“Have to make sure I’m fueled up for the season with the best Raising Cane’s,” he wrote in his Instagram caption. “Proud to be a #CaniacAmbassador.”
Trey Benson’s evolving NIL portfolio
Represented by Just Win Management, the Benson has inked plenty of NIL contracts. Along with quarterback Jordan Travis, Benson has secured endorsement deals with Hotel Indigo, NextGen Camps and Tallahassee Ford. The duo’s most recent agreement came in a trading card deal last week.
They’ve inked agreements with The Battles End, a Florida State-focused NIL collective that launched in early December, too. Benson also agreed to a season-long partnership with Surcheros Fresh Mex back in May.
As a sophomore, Benson carried the ball for 990 yards and nine touchdowns, averaging 6.4 yards per carry. He has an On3 NIL Valuation of $626,000, which is No. 64 in the On3 NIL 100.
The On3 NIL 100 is the first of its kind and defacto NIL ranking of the top 100 high school and college athletes ranked by their On3 NIL Valuation. The valuation is No. 48 in the college football NIL rankings, too.
The running back has more than 43,000 social media followers, with 27,000-plus coming from his Instagram.
