Detroit Lions star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown made a splash with his locker room outfit on Thursday. The wide receiver showed up to the open locker room decked out as a leprechaun.

The fit was a result of a wager between St. Brown, a USC alum, and teammates Julian Okwara, a Notre Dame alum. After their alma maters squared off in a rivalry over the weekend, whoever’s alma mater lost would have to dress as the victorious mascot.

“Facetimed him and he said if ‘SC wins, he has to be Tommy Trojan and I said, ‘OK.’ And he said if Notre Dame wins, I’ve got to be — I don’t know what it’s called. I don’t know what to call this,” St. Brown said, pulling at the vibrant green top he was wearing.

He continued, explaining he was not a big fan of the getup after being asked how he thinks he looked.

“I don’t know — this material is trash, everything about this is trash,” St. Brown said.

St. Brown also was sly in his language when discussing the stakes of the game last Saturday night. A number of Lions players were suspended for sports gambling earlier in the year, some for having bet on other sports while around the team facility.

While a bet on an outfit made between teammates based on the outcome of a college game between their respective alma maters certainly doesn’t infringe on the league gambling policy, St. Brown made clear he and Okwara kept it all kosher, calling it an “agreement.”

“We made an agreement, it was outside of the facility,” St. Brown said.

The taunting was not exclusive to those watching USC, Notre Dame

After Notre Dame put the finishing touches on its resounding 48-20 victory over USC last week, Fighting Irish fans stormed the field. As they did, one fan came up to Caleb Williams as he walked off the field and taunted him about his nails, which he normally paints prior to games.

Wednesday, as USC prepared to take on Utah this week, Williams responded.

“I mean, everybody wants to be in these two 12.5 shoes right here,” Williams told reporters. “I’m not worried about some kid running out on the field that doesn’t have anything really associated to Notre Dame other than possibly their family going there or him going there himself. Got a lot of guys over here that I’ve got to lead, so some opinion of a sheep, lions don’t worry about that stuff. Keep moving on, keep fighting. Fight on.”

Williams had a rough night against the Notre Dame defense. He threw for three interceptions for the first time in his career and completed 23 of 37 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown in the effort. He also got sacked six times.

As a result, Williams’ Heisman Trophy odds took a hit. He entered Week 7 with the second-best odds to repeat as the winner, but according to BetMGM, he fell to +3500 following the game against Notre Dame.
