Andre Cisco is ready for Justin Fields to prove the doubters wrong this coming season with the New York Jets. The Jets safety knows Fields has bounced around and hasn’t found the exact situation for him to succeed the most in the pros, but this could be the year.

Cisco has seen the talent up close and he’s ready for it to all come together. Fields earned a few starts with the Pittsburgh Steelers last year but was ultimately the backup to Russell Wilson as they made the playoffs.

Now, he replaces Aaron Rodgers in New York and will ironically face off against him in the season opener. A former first round pick by the Chicago Bears, perhaps Fields is finally in the right spot.

“Me and Justin, we were in the same class in high school,” Cisco said on Sirius XM NFL Radio. “Same class in college, same class coming up to the NFL so these are the people that, whether you play with them or not, you feel like you know them from not too far away. Getting to know him up close as a teammate has been really, really special.

“I’m really glad that I get this opportunity to get behind him and just support him as he takes on that role. We already know what quarterback means in the NFL. I’m excited for him to prove those who are doubting him wrong and those who are supporting right, because I think he’s gonna have a huge year.”

Fields will be coached up by new head coach Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand. Charles London is the QBs coach this year.

In 2024, Fields threw for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns, one interception, a 65.8% completion percentage, 289 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns.

Putting all of his numbers together, Fields has four seasons under his belt and has 7,780 yards, 45 touchdowns, 31 interceptions, a 61.1% completion percentage, 2,509 rushing yards and 19 rushing touchdowns.

Fields’ best friend on the field will undoubtedly be receiver Garrett Wilson. Teammates at Ohio State, the two are reunited in the NFL.

“I’ll just say that, he trusts me, I trust him, we’ve got a good communication, we speak to each other well, we know what the other is thinking and that’s key,” Wilson said, via Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. “Him being able to say: ‘Garrett, I don’t want you running like that, that was the wrong route.’ Stuff like that in a certain way where he knows I’m not going to take it the wrong way. And we’re just trying to get the best out of each other. I know what he can do. I still think the world’s gotta see it. We all got something to prove on this team.”
