
<p><strong>Lavar Scott</strong> is taking a big step in his young NASCAR career. On Tuesday, Alpha Prime Racing announced it has signed Scott to a two-race deal and will make his Xfinity Series debut on July 19 at Dover. Scott will then compete at the St. Louis track in September. </p>



<p>“LETS GO XFINITY RACING!” Lavar Scott wrote on X/Twitter. “So happy to finally announce this. This is been something I have been working on and trying to achieve for a very long time. Can’t wait to make my debut at [Dover].”</p>

<p>Scott will drive the No. 45 Chevrolet for Alpha Prime, and Foxxtecca will be his sponsor. The 21-year-old has been competing in the <a href="https://www.on3.com/pro/news/thomas-annunziata-overcomes-early-spin-wins-arca-menards-series-race-at-lime-rock-park/">ARCA Menards Series</a> and finished second in points last year. So far this season, Scott has earned top-10 finishes in all of his ARCA races and is currently third in points. In 31 career ARCA races, Scott has finished in the top 10 25 times. </p>

<p>While speaking to <a href="https://frontstretch.com/2024/10/02/lavar-scotts-racing-origin-story-quest-for-the-arca-title/">Trenton Worsham of<em> Frontstretch</em> last year</a>, Scott talked about how he got into racing. “When I was young, my mom and grandfather were drag racers,” Scott said. “They raced, and that’s all we did on the weekends. My older brother started racing, so I wanted to follow in his path. He started doing dirt quarter midgets in the Northeast, and we started racing together every single weekend, and it turned into what I wanted to do for a career.</p>



<p>“I turned 12 [years old] and got into bigger cars and races. And when I turned 16, I got the chance to come to Rev Racing and was part of the combine and have been there ever since. In 2020, I ran Legends, and in 2021 and 2022, I ran late models, then ARCA [Menards Series] East in 2023 and now in the national ARCA series.</p>



<p>Scott was then asked what made him want to race stock cars and not go the drag racing route. “Back then, the rules said you had to be eight years old to race drag, and I was five at the time and wanted to start racing,” he said. “So the only option for me was dirt quarter midgets.”</p>
