Bill Murray predicts a Super Bowl for Chicago Bears in first year of Ben Johnson era

Bill Murray just made a big Super Bowl prediction for the Chicago Bears this season. While appearing on the ManningCast with Peyton Manning and Eli Manning on Monday night, the actor/comedian predicted the Bears would win this year’s Super Bowl.
“I’m going to make news tonight. I’m going to predict a Bears Super Bowl this season,” Bill Murray said. That’s a bold prediction for Murray, as the Bears are coming off a 5-12 record, and they have a new head coach in Ben Johnson. But since the 74-year-old is from Chicago and a die-hard Chicago sports fan, he has to support his team.
It would be fitting for the Bears to win this year’s Super Bowl since it’s the 40th anniversary of the 1985 team winning all. Murray was asked about what he remembered about the ’85 Bears.
“They enjoyed it. I never saw a team have so much fun doing it,” Murray said. “They were crazy, funny people. Steve McMichael, may he rest in peace, is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met in my life. He could entertain nonstop for an hour. You didn’t have to do anything but watch him.

Bill Murray talks about spending time with Bears legends
Murray then discussed being with McMichael and another Bears legend, Dan Hampton, in New Orleans the night before the Super Bowl. The Ghostbusters star said McMichael and Hampton were drinking constantly, which didn’t sit well with him.
“I got so scared,” Murray admitted. “I kept thinking, people are going to think I’m getting these people drunk. But that’s sort of what they had to do just to calm down. They drank them like water and went out the next day and won 46-10.”
When the Bears won the Super Bowl 40 years ago, Murray was at the peak of his career. At that time, he was five years removed from Saturday Night Live and appeared in films like Ghostbusters, Stripes, and Caddyshack. He would continue to star in big films such as Ghostbusters II, Groundhog Day, Ed Wood, Space Jam and Charlie’s Angels, among others. Murray continues to star in films, recently appearing in The Phoenician Scheme with Benicio del Toro, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston and Scarlett Johansson.
