A Crown Jewel victory for Bubba Wallace! Ticket punched to the NASCAR Playoffs with a win in the Brickyard 400, and it wasn’t easy. Wallace had a huge lead in regulation. Then, overtime showed up.

Bubba Wallace didn’t know if he had enough fuel to make it one overtime. To make it two and still have gas? That’s another thing. No rain shortened race, he’s in the 23 car, it is Indianapolis Motor Speedway! As Wallace has said before, what are they gonna say now?!

23XI Racing wins another race. This season has not been the best with all of the off-track and on-track issues going on. Today’s win is major for 23XI and for Wallace’s career.

Bubba Wallace led 30 total laps today on his way to the win. He had to sweat it out as the race went to double overtime. Crew chief Charles Denike has done so much for Wallace and this 23 team. I think that Denny Hamlin has found himself a great driver-crew chief pairing.

It wasn’t just once, but twice, that Wallace held off Kyle Larson on late restarts. Yes, he had the preferred lane on the choose, but he had worse tires and was close to running out of fuel completely.

Things didn’t go according to plan, but Wallace refused to let this race be taken from him. His team worked all afternoon to get the right strategy, hit the pit stops exactly how they needed to hit them, and they came out with a five-second lead with less than 20 laps to do in the race. From there, it got a little chaotic

Bubba Wallace holds on to win Brickyard 400

Until the very end of this race, there wasn’t a lot of excitement. As has been the case many times with the Brickyard 400, the restarts were the best part about the race as drivers pushed and shoved for position.

Wallace has had races slip through his fingers. He’s had great finishes taken from him, and he’s personally thrown away a few since that win at Kansas in 2022. But the growth that we have seen from Wallace in the last two years has been incredible.

And again, credit to Charles Denike. I’m not sure that the 23 team would have gotten the job done last year in the same situation. In fact, we saw them at Texas in a late-race situation give up a win not long ago.

So, a fantastic win for Bubba Wallace. A Crown Jewel. Who thought it would be Indianapolis and not the Daytona 500? Wallace is in the playoffs once again and this time, he’s done it by winning a race in the regular season. There is going to be a big celebration for this win tonight.
