Vikings offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw has been ruled out of Monday night’s season opener against the Chicago Bears. Darrisaw was a part of the team’s inactives list, which can be viewed in full below:

Vikings:

QB Max Brosmer
S Harrison Smith
RB Zavier Scott
OG Joe Huber
OT Christian Darrisaw
DL Elijah Williams

Bears:

DB Jaylon Johnson
QB Case Keenum
LB TJ Edwards
DL Shemar Turner
DB Kyler Gordon
RB Roschon Johnson
OL Kiran Amegadjie

Darrisaw is still recovering from a torn ACL and MCL that occurred during Week 8 of last season. The Vikings will look to have their offensive lineman back in the lineup sooner rather than later this season.

Despite the injury, Darrisaw was present on the field before Monday Night Football doing some light workouts. It appears that the Vikings offensive lineman is getting close, however.

Elsewhere on the Vikings injury report, Smith is recovering from an illness from last month and did not make the trip to Chicago. Brosmer is the third quarterback and will only play if Vikings quarterbacks J.J. McCarthy and Carson Wentz suffer injuries.

McCarthy is set to make his first NFL start after suffering a season-ending injury before the 2024 season. He was the Vikings first-round draft pick last offseason and there are high hopes for what he’ll be able to provide Minnesota during his tenure.

After winning a national championship with Michigan during his senior season, many are excited to see what he’s capable of at the NFL level. Kickoff between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings is set for 1 p.m. ET and will air live on ABC and ESPN. The Bears are a one-point betting favorite to win the season opener, according to BetMGM. The over/under is set at 43.5 total points.

Video reveals rough Soldier Field conditions ahead of Bears vs. Vikings, sparks concern

The playing surface at Soldier Field could be an issue for the Week 1 “Monday Night Football” contest between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings. Hours before the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, Chris Hawkey of KFAN Minneapolis/St. Paul posted video on social media showing the grounds crew attempting to smooth out the seams on the field.

The grounds crew at Soldier Field has had plenty of time to prepare for Week 1. However, Soldier Field has been a popular venue this offseason for other events.
