Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown suffered a concussion in the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Cowboys have ruled him out of the remainder of the game.

Overshown appeared to get hurt on the Chargers’ first drive while making a tackle. Dallas is down arguably its best linebacker with Overshown out.

Overshown, the second-year pro out of Texas, was playing in just his sixth game of the season. He made his season debut in Week 11 against the Las Vegas Raiders, making his way back from a torn ACL, MCL, and PCL in December 2024. Overshown entered Sunday’s game with 26 total tackles.

Overshown was a bright spot on the Cowboys’ defense this past season. Overshown tallied 90 tackles (56 solo), eight tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, one pick six and a forced fumble. Overshown became the third Cowboy to record at least five sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble in the same season, joining DeMarcus Ware (2006) and Greg Ellis (1999).

Dallas’ defense played well in Overshown’s return against the Raiders. Overshown admitted after the game he was a bit rusty.

“Me, myself, a little rust,” Overshown said. “But it felt good being out there. The film, I didn’t want to look at it. That says a lot. It’s simple stuff. It ain’t anything that can’t be fixed. It’s just being antsy, ready to play football. I think I was more-so worried about showing my physical abilities than my critical-thinking abilities and my processing of the game.

“It’s easy, fixable stuff, so I’m excited for this next game. That was, I’m not going to say the worst I’ll ever play, but coming off 343 days, it’s like, I can be way better than that.”
