Cam Skattebo is getting the best treatment Philadelphia can offer and then some after suffering a devastating ankle injury against the Eagles on Sunday. After undergoing surgery, the team did a little something to help take Skattebo’s mind off his pain.

According to The Inquirer’s Jeff McLane, Philadelphia Eagles Chief of Security ‘Big Dom’ DiSandro delivered cheesesteaks and pizza to Skattebo at Penn Presbyterian on Monday. DiSandro has done a bit of everything for Philadelphia’s franchise since joining the Eagles in 1999, and apparently delivery driver is one of the many hats he wears.

The kind gesture from ‘Big Dom’ to Skattebo is one rooted in respect. Skattebo has broken onto the scene as one of the most dynamic rookies in the NFL this year beside fellow rookie Jaxson Dart in New York’s backfield.

However, his exciting campaign may be cut short following successful surgery on his dislocated ankle. Skattebo’s injury came early in the second quarter against the Eagles, seeing the tailback attempt to catch a pass but while being tackle, his leg appeared to fall underneath the Phili defender looking to make a tackle. His ankle appeared to be twisted after the fact, leading to Skattebo being carted off the field.

Heading into the matchup, Skattebo had proved to be an issue for the Eagles defense. During their first meeting, Skattebo logged a career-best 98 rushing yards and a whopping three touchdowns on Oct. 9. Perhaps he earned the respect of the Eagles’ brass during the effort. After all, even Eagles fans gave him a standing ovation as the cart took him off the field.

In total, the rookie running back has 98 rushing attempts on the season for 398 yards and five touchdowns. His scoring numbers are tied for fifth-most among running backs in the league heading into Week 8.

However, he’ll now shift his focus to rehabbing his injured ankle. Without Skattebo, the Giants gave Tyrone Tracy the bulk of carries for the rest of the afternoon. He finished the game with10 carries for 39 yards while the team finished with 68 total yards on the ground during the afternoon.

For now, Skattebo’s recovery timeline remains to be seen. The Eagles would go on to win 38-20 without their starting running back in the game.

For now, the Giants will have to move forward without Skattebo’s services. Next up for New York will be a Week 9 matchup at home against the San Francisco 49ers. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. ET live on CBS.
